MARK MASONS FUND EQUIPMENT FOR

ROSEMERE

21st November 2012: The Mark Province of West Lancashire presented a cheque for
£6,700 to Rosemere Cancer Foundation this week, which will help fund essential
equipment and provide better care for cancer patients in the region.

The generous donation is being used to fund two different types of equipment at

Rosemere Cancer Centre.  Firstly, over £5,000 is being used to replace a urology
endoscopic camera, for a Narrow Band Imaging device.  The equipment helps to
provide a clearer diagnosis of bladder cancer, identifying cancerous tissue more
  effectively.

The remainder of the money will be used to purchase 10 Portable DVD Players for
Chemotherapy treatment centres in Preston, Chorley, South Ribble, Morecambe Bay,
Blackpool and the Fylde Coast.   This equipment will ensure that the FACTS campaign
DVD is seen by all new patients commencing chemotherapy, providing them with all the

relevant and quality information they require ahead of treatment.

Money was raised throughout the year via fundraising events and personal donations.
The Mark Masons chose to donate the money to Rosemere in memory of one of its
members, David Clough.  He was a very well respected Mark Mason but he also
volunteered as chairman of the Lymphoma Cancer Support Group, before he sadly lost
his battle with cancer earlier this year.

Provincial Grand Master of the West Lancashire Province, Peter Connolly comments:

David was very well respected in our community, and he also touched a lot of people
through his work with Rosemere and the Lymphoma support group, never letting his
battle get in the way of helping others.  We are proud to be able to make a difference
too, by funding these two very important types of equipment.”

Laura Stephenson, Area Fundraising Coordinator for Rosemere Cancer Foundation,
  said:

“On behalf of Rosemere Cancer Foundation I would like thank the Mark Masons
Province of West Lancashire for this very generous donation.  They are helping in two
very important ways – improving the way we diagnose cancer and supporting local
people who are going through treatment for their illness.”
